Friends, Fun, and Learning

All children registered will be cast in the show!
Children's theater offers a wide range of benefits for young participants. Here are some key advantages:

-
Creativity and Imagination: Theater encourages children to use their imagination and think creatively. They get to explore different characters, settings, and stories, which can enhance their creative thinking skills.
-
Confidence and Self-Esteem: Performing in front of an audience helps children build confidence and self-esteem. They learn to express themselves and overcome stage fright, which can be beneficial in many areas of life.
-
Communication Skills: Theater helps improve verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Children learn to articulate their thoughts clearly, use body language effectively, and listen actively to others.
-
Teamwork and Collaboration: Theater is a collaborative art form that requires teamwork. Children learn to work together, share ideas, and support each other, fostering a sense of community and cooperation.
-
Emotional Intelligence: Through theater, children explore different emotions and perspectives. This helps them develop empathy and emotional intelligence, as they understand and relate to the feelings of others.
-
Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Theater often involves improvisation and quick thinking. Children learn to solve problems creatively and think on their feet, which can enhance their critical thinking skills.
-
Cultural Awareness: Theater exposes children to different cultures, histories, and traditions. This broadens their understanding of the world and promotes cultural awareness and appreciation.
-
Fun and Enjoyment: Above all, children's theater is fun! It provides a joyful and engaging way for children to express themselves, enjoy the arts, and to make lifelong friendships.

What happens during placement Auditions?
-
Children will be brought into the theater in groups of four or five at a time. The director and music director will hear their song choice.

-
For those individuals auditioning for a Lead Role: Select a monologue (several are suggested on our website) from those suggested or one from another source of your choice. A monologue is a short block of text that performs in 30 seconds to 1 minute in length. Select a short song or cutting from a song that fits the vocal style of the role you are auditioning for.
-
Dress to move. Our choreographer will teach every auditionee a short dance from the show. We request that you do not wear baggy clothing, as this hinders our ability to spot body positioning and technique. Wear shoes that do not fall off of your feet when dancing. Dance shoes are preferred, but not required for auditions. Please refrain from wearing heavy winter boots, or flipflops.
Our Artistic Director will provide you with both aural and written feedback and answer any questions you may have about the audition process. They will also explain what directors look for in an audition and how that will vary from show to show and character to character.
